GPO Islamabad Latest Jobs 2024 Applications on prescribed proforma are invited from suitable candidates for the post of Legal Consultant against fixed pay on a contract basis for a period of two (02) years, extendable upon satisfactory performance in the Election Commission of Pakistan through P.O. Box No. 1418, GPO, Islamabad:

Job Description:

• All cases pertaining to the Supreme Court of Pakistan and High Courts;
• All cases pertaining to all other courts, forums, and tribunals;
• Legal opinion on all constitutional and legal matters; and
• Any other legal work assigned by the Commission.

The Legal Consultant will work under the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Disqualification:

No person shall be eligible for appointment as Legal Consultant who:

• Has been or is dismissed from service as a consequence of disciplinary proceedings;
• Has been or is convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction for an offence involving moral turpitude;
• Such persons who have been removed from Government Service due to unsatisfactory performance or on account of moral & financial turpitude shall not be eligible to apply for the said position;
• Applicants must submit an affidavit declaring their non-involvement in any other relevant business/job which may tantamount to a conflict of interest.

Conflict of Interest:

• The candidate for appointment as Legal Consultant shall have to seek retirement from his/her existing Department/employer, or his/her appointment shall be subject to acceptance of resignation from the designated authority.
• The candidate shall not engage in any other service, business, or employment which may have a direct or indirect effect on his/her performance as Legal Consultant.
• The candidate must submit an affidavit declaring his/her non-involvement in any business/job that may conflict with the role.

Termination of Contract:

The contract may be terminated on completion of tenure or by giving one month\’s notice by either side.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

The performance of the Legal Consultant shall be monitored by the Hon\’ble Chief Election Commissioner.

Applicability of other rules:

In respect of matters not specified here, the law, rules, and policies applicable to civil servants at the corresponding level will apply.

1. Relaxation in the upper age limit (except 5 years of general age relaxation) will be given as per the Initial Appointment to Civil Posts (Relaxation of Upper Age Limit) Rules, 1993.

5. Applicants must attach auto-generated applications as cover notes along with the hard copies of documents.
6. Applications received after the cut-off date will not be entertained.
7. No TA/DA will be admissible for test/interview. Only short-listed candidates will be called.
8. The Authority reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process partially or totally.
